We have organized a special tour including most of the Iranian UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 40 days. It’s a long journey of visiting a four-season country and you will see the marvelous sightseeing and breathtaking places during this journey.

Visiting cities

We are going to visit Hamedan, Kermanshah, Khorramabad, Dezful, Susa, Choghazanbil, Shushtar, Soosan Dasht. Then, we will drive to the center of Iran and go to Isfahan, Shiraz, Meymand, Kerman, Mahan, Lut desert, Dig-e Rostam, Nayband, Ezmighan. We continue our overland journey to Farahzad, Kharanaq, Chak-Chak, Meybod, Yazd, Abyaneh, Kashan and we back to Tehran after 20 days. After 3 days in Tehran, We are going to visit Tehran, Garmsar, Mehdishahr, Damghan, Shahrood, Kalaleh, Khalid Nabi, Gonbad Kavus, Gorgan, Sari. We take the road beside the Caspian sea to visit Ramsar, Fuman, Rudkhan, Masuleh, Asalem, Khalkhal, Ardabil. The upcoming cities are the most precious ones which are Kandovan, Tabriz, Jolfa, Maragheh, Takhte Soleyman, Zanjan, Sultanieh, Qazvin and finally, we take you to IkA for departure.

Welcome to Iran
Today is a very special day for Iranians and everyone is outside of their houses and celebrates the Nature Day (Sizdah Be Dar). You are invited to the ceremoney so, we go to the outside of Tehran and join others in a big garden to see what people do on this day and have some fun. We will greet you at IKA , if you have arrived during the day, we go directly to the garden otherwise if you have arrived too early, you can rest at the Novotel Hotel, the best hotel close to the airport and then in the morning after breakfast we drive to the garden. In the evening we go to walk a little in Mellat park to see more about “13 Bedar” and have dinner at Qajarieh Matbakh restaurant.

Notes:
– We start our Tehran tour at 9 o’clock in the morning. Thus, your flight should land in Tehran at about 07:00 am. If you booked an early flight, which lands before 7 am, we can book a half charge hotel upon your request. This half charge accommodation would cost 24 Euro for 1-6 hours (breakfast included). Therefore, you need to inform us about your flight time sooner.
– If you arrive later than 09:00 am, we would transfer you from IKA airport to join the other group member free of charge.
– If you arrive later than 19:00 pm, you would go directly to the Novotel hotel to have dinner and rest.

In the morning, we must leave Novotel Hotel hotel at 8:30. It takes about four hours to reach Hamedan, Dubbed the capital of Persian civilization and culture. Then, we will visit Achaemenes inscriptions and waterfall and we can take photos. We will have lunch at Ganjnameh restaurant or one of the best restaurants in Hamedan. After lunch, we say goodbye to Hamedan and continue our way to Bistun to have dinner and rest at Laleh Bisotun Hotel.

In the morning after breakfast, at 8:00 am, we will visit Bisotun complex as another UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Sassanid & Achaemenid inscription which is the biggest one in the world. After an hour visiting, we are going to visit Taq-e Bostan, which means “Arch of the garden” and the rock reliefs from the era of Sassanid. We walk around and after lunch, we will visit Tekyeh Moaven-ol-Molk to see the tiles work with natural colures, then Shafei Mosque which belongs to Sunni muslims and has a very special Islamic architecture. We will back to Bisotun to have dinner at the hotel and rest enough for the next day.

Today, we are going to leave the hotel at 8:30 to head to Khorramabad. It lasts 3 hours to get there, so we can visit Falakol Aflak Citadel which belongs to Sassanid empire and located on the top of the hills. Then, we will have lunch at Hami Restaurant or one of the best restaurants in Khorramabad. After that, we can visit Gerdab-e Sangi. Otherwise, we can have our midday meal on the roof of Khorramabad. Then, we need to leave Khorramabad to Dezful. The estimated time to reach Dezful is about 3 hours, thus we will have dinner in a Dezfuli house or one of the best restaurants in Dezful. Although our hotel is a 3-star one, it is actually the best place to rest and overnight stay in the area.

On this day, we start visiting some places in Dezful then we head to Susa and Shushtar .
Dezful Traditional Bazaar backs to many years ago that’s why people call it The Old Bazaar. In front of the old bazaar, there are lots of shops in which you can taste local junk foods and sweets such as Buffalo ice cream, a mix of Halva Ardeh with Dates, and special cookies. These junk foods are part of the attraction of Dezful. Then, we will continue our tour and will visit Tiznoo house. For having lunch, we will stop at Delnavazan Restaurant or one of the best restaurants in Dezful. After lunch, we will visit Dez River then we have to leave Dezful to Susa . It takes only one hour to get there. We need to see the fantastic Susa Castle, Susa Museum, Apadana Palace . In the evening, you can help yourself with the midday meal. Then, we drive to Choghazanbil Ziggurat which the history behind is beyond the imagination and you must see it yourself as a UNESCO World Heritage Sites. In the evening, we will continue our trip to Shushtar, on the way we can see and take photos from Buffalo. It takes only one hour to see our indescribable city. We need to have dinner in the Mostofi Restaurant or one of the best restaurants in Shushtar. Then, it is time to check-in the hotel and rest at Tabib-e-Shushtar Hotel .

Meanwhile having breakfast at Tabib-e-Shushtar hotel, you can enjoy the architecture of the hotel in the morning. At the beginning of the day, we visit Shushtar Historical Hydro Structure Base and Waterfall which is a UNESCO World Heritage Sites. A special Sassanid site where you can see the hydraulic system of watermills and their usages through history. We should walk to different parts of the complex and see some interesting things in the corners. You can hear the sound of the water while you walking to any part of the complex. Afterward, We drive to Mostofi Restaurant and Museum to have lunch and visit its museum. In Shushtar, we must visit Jameh Mosque because it is said that this mosque is the second-oldest mosque in Iran after the one which is in Yazd. It backs to approximately 1200 years ago. After that, we can enjoy resting in Moghadam Traditional Cafe .

Today we drive to Zagros mountain range. We pass through a very beautiful road which takes around 4 hours to reach Papila rural guesthouse in Soosan-Dasht. On the way, we will have a stop at Izeh to visit Eshkaft Salman, The Elamite rock reliefs which show us some of their traditions and believes. Then we go to Papila guesthouse to have lunch and visit the area. This guesthouse is close to the land of lilies and we can walk around there and visit nomads. We have different types of nomads in Iran. If we were lucky we can meet Bakhtiari nomads and spend our afternoon with them. After having nomadic dinner, we back to the guesthouse.

In the morning we enjoy watching and walking in the flower land of Soosan-Dasht and then we drive 7 hours to Isfahan. On the way, we will have some short stops in nature and next to the Dez River. We will have lunch in Shahrekord at Roya restaurant.
Afterward, we go to Abbasi Hotel in Isfahan to do check-in. In the evening we go to have dinner at Shahrzad restaurant and then, walk from Siosepol Bridge to Khajoo Bridge . At bridges and Zayanderud river you can see the gathering of Isfahani people at night.

We are going to visit the masterpiece of architecture by Sheikh Bahai in the Safavid era were known as Naqshe-Jahan complex, which includes Imam Mosque , Sheikh Lotf Allah Mosque , Ali Qapu Palace . Jean Chardin known this UNESCO World Heritage Sites as the most beautiful square in the world. In front of the mosque is a beautiful forecourt which is connected to the bazaar. Since the bazaar has surrounded the square, we can visit it as well. After lunch, we walk to Chehel Sotoon Palace . The name of this palace means forty pillars and it’s a unique palace in an Iranian garden with special paintings inside. We take a short rest in a nice café in Jolfa neighborhood. Then we will visit Jolfa neighborhood and Vank church which has a dome with many old paintings and Iranian tiles work on the wall. There is also an Armenian museum in the yard about their history and you will have time to visit it. Then, we walk to the music museum where you can see and know more about classic Persian music with live performance. We have dinner at Isfahani house or one of the best restaurants in Jolfa after the music museum. Then for the rest, we go back to the hotel.

Today after breakfast at 8:00 am we leave Isfahan to Shiraz . On the way, we will have stop at Izadkhast to visit the castle of this area. The history of this citadel dates back to the pre-Islamic era of Iran and specially Sassanid’s time. It’s an abandoned city which by walking in old alleys and visiting different parts you can feel the lifestyle of that time. After a short rest and drinking a cup of tea or fruit juice we back to the road and go to the tomb of Cyrus the Great in Pasargad and visit another UNESCO World Heritage Sites. We will have a stop at Hoobareh restaurant to have a nomadic lunch close to the Pasargad. At Pasargad we will visit the tomb of Cyrus the Great and know more about the father of Persia. You will see the Iranian garden and the UN at that time. Afterward, we finish our day in Shiraz by visiting Quran gate as the old gate of Shiraz and having dinner at Haftkhan restaurant.

In the morning around 8:00 o’clock you should be in Nasir-Al Molk Mosque and visit the combination of color and sunshine art in the mosque. Then we will visits Vakil Complex which contains Vakil Mosque, Vakil Bazaar, Vakil Bathhouse and Karimkhan Citadel. After visiting these places you need to rest a bit, so we can have a lunch in Shater Abbas Restaurant. Then, we visit Eram Garden and walk around a Botanical garden and take photo then will visit Hafeziyeh Tomb. We plan to have Falude-Shirazi in one of the best places to try in the evening. Then, for dinner, we head to Shirazi house or one of the best restaurants in Shiraz. At the end of the day, we rest at Zandiyeh Hotel.

Day 11 - (MEYMAND)Achaemenes




PERSEPOLIS


These upcoming destinations have the most famous sightseeing in the world and are named as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. for visiting these places, we will drive to Marvdasht and will visit the glory of Achaemenes. In Persepolis Complex (Takht-e Jamshid) we will visit eight Palaces, two Tombs, a Museum and a Treasury. Here is a great place for founding the Achaemenes architecture and their beliefs. There are many rock reliefs that had registered their customs and history. After a long walk (around 4 hours). We will have lunch in a restaurant near the Persepolis that called Laneh Tavoos or the other-best restaurant in the area and then we will visit Necropolis afterward. You will be surprised to see three different empires at the same time in one place. Necropolis includes Elamite relief, four tomb of Achaemenes and 5 reliefs for the glory of Sassanid. After walking in the history of Iran. We will back to the main road to Meymand. Our plan is to have dinner and sleep in one of those caves of this village. Before sleeping we can explore the village and enjoying the unique environment Later we can stargaze at night while gathering around a fire-place near our cave would be one of the most memorable parts of our journey. We sleep in our cave for the first and maybe the last time of our life.

After having breakfast in our cave we leave the village at 8:30 to the Rageh valley with a 4WD car. The third geopark of Iran (It is also known as the Death Valley) where we spend around 3 hours to visit deferent parts of it. For the midday catering, we will have stop at Kabootarkhan village to have local ice-cream in the desert. The Rood-e-Shoor (Salty River) is our next stop. The village of Shafi Abad is where you can see the Qanat system (underground water channels) and the castle of Shafi Abad. You have this opportunity to see a lake in the desert so our last stop would be close to the lake. At night we back to the eco-camp and have dinner.

Today we want to show you an amazing view of a green village in the desert. Nay-Band village is one of the villages of Iran that are like stairs. This idiom comes from the special architecture of this place. Each above building has a yard that it would be the roof of the building below. This is why it would be like stairs. Despite other villages, in this village, you’ll see many kids and young people which means the new generation didn’t leave the village to big cities. This is something unique that you’ll see here in Nay-Band. So, we drive 5 hours to Nay-Band but before that, we will have two stops. The first stop is at Kerman to visit its bazaar and the second stop is at Dige-Rostam to get fresh ourselves in a natural spring. This hot spring is very unique because of the temperature and having Sulphur in it. The water of this spring in comparison with other springs is different & special, because it’s not salty or sower, it’s a freshwater spring.

MESR DESERT – ISFAHAN



After having breakfast, we will leave Ezmighen at 08:00 am to the Mesr desert. Exploring Mesr desert nowadays is the result of the fortune of losing a camel! The camel’s owner discovered the desert by chance while looking for his camel. Then, he made his own Egypt (Mesr) by digging Qanat for 5km to bring life to the desert. Although later a flood destroyed the village, the desert kept its own privacy and stood still after all. On the way, we have a stop to show you the salty desert with special shape. It takes about 4 hours to reach there. We are going to have lunch in Barandaz eco-lodge and enjoy walking on sand dunes. At night, you can enjoy your coffee or tea around the fire and listen to the silence of night in the desert and relax while watching stars.

In the morning we drive to Kharanaq to visit the 3-floored mudbricks citadel, where till 60 years ago people used to live there. Then, we go to visit Chak-Chak, the most important Zoroastrian pilgrimage site. We need to climb 250 stairs. After that, we head to Meybod, to visit Ice House, Narin Qal’eh, Pigeons tower and have lunch at old caravanserai which includes a restaurant, shops, Water storage. On the way to Yazd, we will stop at Dowlat Abad garden to walk and enjoy another Iranian garden with one of the tallest wind tower in Iran. You will know more about the air conditioning system of the mansion in this garden. We rest for a while in the garden and then leave it for dinner.

After having breakfast, we experience a great city tour in Yazd. It would be nice that you know that Yazd is located in the center of Iran and also in Dasht-e Kavir desert. Because of that, the weather is hot and dry, but at this time of the year, the weather won’t bother us.
We will start with Towers of Silence which belongs to Zoroastrian. The Zoroastrian used to put the body of the corpse on top of the mountain for 3 days till the birds eat all the meat of the body. Afterward, we will visit the Yazd Fire Temple (Yazd Atash Bahram). Where the immortal fire which is burning for more than 1500 years is keeping there. After a short rest, we will visit Amir Chakhmaq Complex , which includes Mosque, Water Storage, Nakhl (symbol of mourning in Moharram and the famous gate with two minarets. This place is the best place for buying Termeh (traditional silky fabric with a special design (Boteh Jegheh)) and delicious sweets of Yazd. This city is located in the desert and they have a unique way to bring water from mountains to the city by underground channels which called Qanat. To know more about this system and visiting an old Yazd house we go for Yazd Water Museum. We have lunch at Fooka restaurant close to Jameh mosque and old city. After lunch, we will go to the Jameh mosque. It is the oldest mosque in Iran and some archeologists believe that it returns to pre-Islamic Iran when people used to pray in the fire temple. After visiting this special mosque, we will have an ancient part of Yazd which is registered as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. I am sure you never get tired when you walk through the narrow adobe ally and houses in Fahadan area. In our opinion, you would enjoy the great experience of sitting in a roof garden coffee shop in this area with the view of windcatchers and adobe houses. For dinner, we will go to Marcopolo rooftop restaurant or one of the best restaurants in Yazd. After that, we will back to the hotel and rest.

We continue our overland journey to Kashan. It takes almost 4 hours and a half. But on the way, we will visit Abyaneh village. This village is one of the old villages that its history backs to the Sassanid empire. In this village, people speak in an old Persian language named Pahlavi. They have special clothes and customs. You will visit a special village which all the houses have made with red adobe and all the allies have covered by stone. We will go to the restaurant for having lunch at Viuna restaurant or one of the best restaurants in Abyaneh. We will continue to Kashan and when we reach there, we will visit Fin Garden (Bagh-e Fin) and Hamam-e Fin rosewater tools before any other place. Broujerdi’s House is one of the great houses in Kashan which has a love story with amazing wind catchers and stucco design. Near Broujerdi’s House is another beautiful house with name of Tabatabaei and it belongs to his father in law. We will leave the Kashan to the Qom city to visit Fatima Masumeh Shrine the sister of Imam Reza. Then we will have lunch on the way to Tehran at Mehr-o-Mah Tourist Complex. Afterward, we will drive 2 hours to Tehran and have stopped at Azadi tower to visit one of Tehran’s symbol. This tower was built before the revolution and it has so many history about the revolution. It’s an Iranian garden full of palaces and we will visit the main palace as the biggest one, where the king used to meet his guests, then one of the other palaces would be enough to visit. Afterward, we visit Tehran Grand Bazaar close to the Golestan complex and have lunch at Moslem restaurant. We will do hiking to have a good view of clouds from the top of the hills. After snack time we back to the car and drive to the Kalaleh for lunch. Then we experience a different accommodation which is close to the Khalid-Nabi cemetery. We have a green landscape view around us and we can explore it in the afternoon and have dinner in eco-lodge. For tonight, you can enjoy Turkman traditional music.

It is the world’s tallest brick tower and you can see it from a far distance. This city is popular with horses and you can try riding the Turkman horse there. In case of any horsemanship, we go for watching. Then we leave the city to stay at night in Gorgan.

The other plan is to visit Behshahr-Mehdi Rajeh , where you can see Gorgan gulf from there and experience paragliding upon Gorgan Gulf . Finally, we go to the Salar Dareh Hotel in Sari, to have dinner and stay overnight.

It’s not a very old palace but you must visit it. The garden is very nice and at the end of the garden, there is a spring that supplies the water and there is a bamboo garden that is interesting. We should take the Ramsar cable car to reach the hotel on top of the mountain and check-in in heart of the forest. There is a nice view of the Caspian Sea and forest from the hotel.

Our plan is to go to a very nice place with enjoyable hiking, so we take the road and after 2 hours we arrive at Fuman and we leave our luggage at the hotel, then we are going to visit Rudkhan castle. An amazing castle in the jungle and mountain that takes at least 45 minutes hiking (not very easy) from the parking to the castle. The view of the jungle and castle from the royal room is perfect. We have lunch with local food and then we go to another popular and amazing village known as Masuleh to walk in the village and having dinner. This village is a stair-like village and the roof of each house is the yard of the upper house. After having dinner at Masuleh we back to the hotel to check-in and sleep.

This is a very old mosque which used to be a fire temple before Islam. Then we go to see a nice waterfall known as Visadar to seat close to it and drink a cup of tea with snaks and chillout. The road to this waterfall is nice as well. Gisoom is the name of a green area that many years ago has been made by government. There are many tall cedars and cypresses that by passing them we can reach the Caspian Sea and Gisoom beach. We will seat and chill out there and afterward go to the hotel.

TOMB OF SHEIKH SAFI – ARDABIL


Today at 8:00 am we go to Ardebil to visit a special place wich has beautiful architecture with name of tomb of Sheikh Safi. The name of Safavid dynasty is coming from his name but he had nothing to do with this kingdom. Sheikh Safi was a very knowledgeable, respected and well-known man at his time and he has spent most of his life in Gnosticism. The tomb is also belonging to some of the other Safavids Kings. The tile work and painted interiors are magnificent as well as the use of metal for doors and around the tombs. Ardebil used to be the first capital of the Safavi era and that’s why the architecture of this place is very similar to palaces in Isfahan. To reach Ardebil we take a very beautiful road from Asalem to Khalkhal which goes among the mountain. Day 33 - (KANDOVAN)Volcanic Structure And Hand-Carved Village




KANDOVAN – EAST AZERBAIJAN PROVINCE


After having breakfast at Dorna eco-lodge we will drive for 3 hours to Kandovan. A special village in south of Tabriz and it is One of the few manmade cliff dwellings in the world where people still live the traditional life. The houses are in different way of structure and our plan is to spend our night in the rock village Kandovan, in Kandovan Laleh International Rocky hotel. We will walk around to see the village and the people. The view of the village during the night and day is different and very nice. Beyond Kandovan, smooth steep foothills mask a full view of Sahand mountain whose hidden volcanic summit rises to 3707m.

Day 34 - (TABRIZ)largest Covered Bazaar




BAZAAR -TABRIZ


Today we leave Kandovan behind and go to Tabriz, the biggest and most crowded city in the northwest of Iran, where another Iranian tribe is living there. We go directly to Jameh mosque of Tabriz. It is located in Grand Bazaar of Tabriz and has built in several stages. The Mihrab of mosque has a Kufi inscription decorated with stucco-work. Then we will visit one of the oldest and largest covered bazaar in the middle east named Grand Bazaar of Tabriz. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Sites and it was one of the most important commercial centers on the Silk Road. We have lunch at Haj Ali restaurant to taste the Tabrizi kebab. Then we go to explore the city more in the afternoon by visiting the Kabood mosque which also named Goy mosque and blue mosque. Then we walk to Azerbaijan Museum, and Behnam House. Our day will finish by having dinner at El-goli complex.

Another day and another UNESCO World Heritage Sites. We go to the city of Jolfa, where many years ago Armenian people used to leave there and a very important church with the name of Monastery of Saint Stepanos is there and we are going to visit the church and the old rooms of priests. While we drive to Jolfa, at some parts of the road you can see Nakhchivan on the other side of our water border. We will have easy hiking to the church. It takes our whole day so in the evening we back to Tabriz.

MEHR TEMPLE- MARAGHEH


We continue our overland journey to Maragheh. This city used to be the capital of the Ilkhanid dynasty and we will visit Maragheh observatory. This observatory was established in 1259 CE under directorship of Nasir al-Din al-Tusi. Many other prominent astronomers worked with Tusi at the observatory, especially Chinese astronomer. Then we go to visit Mehr temple which back to Parthian and Iron age era. This temple is one of four known Mehr temple in Iran. After having lunch at Sofi luxurious restaurant we continue our way to Takht-e Soleyman to spend our night.

TAKHT-E SOLEYMAN – TAKAB


Our accommodation is very close to Takht-e Soleyman and after breakfast, we start our visiting. The site is a UNESCO World Heritage Sites and includes the principal Zoroastrian sanctuary partly rebuilt in the Ilkhanid (Mongol) period (13th century) as well as a temple of the Sasanian period (6th and 7th centuries) which was dedicated to Anahita. The ensemble of Takht-e Soleyman is an exceptional testimony of the continuation of cult related to fire and water over a period of two and half millennia. Then we head to Zanjan to have lunch at Khatoon restaurant. After lunch, we will visit the Salt men museum. It’s an old house with 2 floors that became a museum and one of the oldest full-body prince of ancient times of Iran is kept in this museum. Then we walk to Rakhtshooy Khaneh Edifice to visit the old amazing and unique way of laundry system in Iran.

We leave Zanjan at 8 am to the Dome of Soltaniyeh (UNESCO World Heritage Sites), the biggest brick dome in the world and the Mausoleum of Ilkhan Oljaytu. This place used to be the center of an old city with the name of Soltanieh even before the time of Zanjan exististance. We drive 1.5 hours to Qazvin to have lunch and visit some attractions. In the time of Safavid era, this city used to be their capital for a while. We start our tour by visiting Aminiha Hosseiniyeh which is an old house and devoted to religious ceremonies. The Jameh mosque of Qazvin is the heart of the city and also the border between the old and new parts of the city. In the evening we go to walk in the old bazaar and visit Sa’d al-Saltaneh seray. Tonight we will have our last supper in a Qazvini house.
