Persepolis

Persepolis, the greatness of the Persian civilization

Persepolis is a complex of magnificent palaces that began in the year 512 BC and lasted for 150 years. Persepolis is located in a vast area on one side of Mount Rahmat and Marvdasht on the other. Persepolis was not only a capital of the Achaemenid era and a central ceremonial, administrative, and economic center, but also a model for the art of subsequent nations.

Apadana Palace, A Luxurious Building

Near the eastern and northern porches, two rows of beautiful staircases adorned with unique patterns are intended for entry into the palace. The columns of this palace hall are one of the most astonishing parts of Persepolis; two-headed cobblestones and flowers and bushes give a unique view to these columns.

Persepolis

Hadish, Remainder of History

The private palace of Xerxes the great, is called Hadish, with its inscription on the door. There was a central square hall in this palace with two pillars and a porch with four pillars to the north of the hall, with a door leading to it.

Persepolis Stone Carving

In flat stone carvings, no one can be seen in humiliation or disgrace, and the representatives of the nations are not individually defeated or enslaved, but are all equally members of the great global community and all nations, from the Medes to the Indians, Tunisians, Africans and Greeks, all as independent individuals. and they were self-reliant.

In the stone carvings the distance of each nation is separated by a cedar tree, which is a sacred tree. The ranking of the representatives of the nations is based on their culture and background or their proximity, such as the Medes, Elamites, Khuzis, Babylonians, Assyrians.

The nations’ representatives extended their arms to each other in a sign of friendship. Having a cane is a mark of high rank, a simple cap is a sign of greatness, and a short cylinder hat is a sign of a court official and royal guards and servants.

Persepolis

Historians believe that Alexander the Great, invaded Iran in 330 BC and set fire to Persepolis, possibly destroying much of Achaemenid books, culture and art.

Persepolis is the result of the brilliant arts and craftsmanship of the peoples who, through ancient and varied cultures, presented their cultural and artistic components to Iranian architects, and by using these artistic elements, they created a vibrant collection of cultures from various nations.
